Willis Schoonover

Willis H. "Bill" Schoonover, Sr., 85, of Hobbs, passed away Monday, February 22, 2016 in Hobbs. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Friday, February 26, 2016 at Griffin Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Elio Barrios, officiating. Interment with follow in Prairie Haven Memorial Park with Military Honors provided by the United States Air Force. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 PM, Thursday the 25th at Griffin Funeral Home.

Bill was born on June 6, 1930 in Electra, Texas to Pete and Agnes Schoonover. He served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. Bill married Frances Rushing and they celebrated over 50 years of marriage until her death in 2004. He retired from El Paso Natural Gas. Bill loved to fish but his true love was being with his grandchildren. He was a Christian and will be remembered as being a great family man; a wonderful husband, father and grandfather.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, wife and a brother. Survivors include his sons, Willis Howard Schoonover, Jr. and wife, Camille of Hobbs and Steve Schoonover and wife, Robbie of Hobbs; grandchildren, Riann Cecil, Chaz Schoonover, Carlie Schoonover, Jeffery Schoonover, Matthew Schoonover, Christy Flores and Lisa DeLeon; 5 great grandchildren; his aunt Frankie and nieces, Lea Dell Morris; Lisa Schoonover and Lana Wilson.
