Betty Jo McGee Dill Naylor Coker, 93, of Hobbs passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at her daughter's home. We welcome friends and family to join us in celebrating Betty Jo's life. She was well loved and will be greatly missed. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, March 19, 2018 at Griffin Funeral Home with Jeff Fair, officiating. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation on Sunday, March 18 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m.
Betty Jo was born on February 27, 1925 in Corsicana, Texas to Harry and Jessie Mae McGee.
She attended Robinson High School and Southwest Junior College, and was raised in Corsicana, Kilgore, Texas and Robinson Illinois. During WWII, she was known as "Betty the Riveter" in California while waiting for her fiancé to return from WWII. After an engagement from 1941 to 1944, she married her WWII war hero and love of her life Roger Dill in 1944. After his death from a drowning accident in 1950, Betty Jo married James Naylor in 1952.
Betty Jo moved to Hobbs in 1956 where she lived most of her life. She was employed as a dental assistant/technician for Dr. Larry White. Betty was a member of the VFW, American Legion, Women's Bible Study and an active member of First Christian Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents Harry and Jessie Mae McGee; brother Harry McGee and husbands Roger Lewis Dill and James Naylor.
Betty Jo is survived by her four children, Ronnie and wife Kathy Dill of Midland, Bob and wife Ellen Dill of Dallas, James Naylor and Julie Cree of Odessa and Deborah and husband Richard Rupard of Hobbs; ten grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
