Charles H. Byrd, my buddy, friend, lover, husband and father of our three children, lost his long hard fought battle with heart disease in Lubbock, Texas on January 25, 2017. He was born on March 20, 1939 in Hobbs, NM to John D. and Dorothy E. (Dickison) Byrd.
Leaving behind to honor his life and love is his wife, Chloe Ann; daughters, Marie (T.J.) Melder Reid and Dorothy Phillips; grandsons, Kelly and J.C. Willis; great grandchildren, Cassie, Lorelai, Olivia, Zachary and Wesley; half-brother, Donny Byrd and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, brother and sisters-in-law, friends and neighbors. Charles joined his waiting family in heaven, his most beloved grandmother; his one and only son, Charles Jr. (Chucky); mother; father; sister, Betty Joann Emerson; mother-in-law; father-in-law; stepsister; stepbrothers; half-brother; aunts and uncles.
Charles joined the United States Navy in 1956. Upon completing his service to his country he married Chloe Ann Clark on August 20, 1960 in Lovington, NM and they celebrated over 56 years of wonderful marriage. Charles became an electric lineman for A&W Electric, City of Teague, TX, K&S Electric and Dixie Electric. He retired in 1997. Per his request, no funeral services are planned. A memorial in his honor will be held at a later date in June. Charles will be forever in our hearts and lives.
