Charles “Tunie” Stewart was born September 27, 1958, in Noxubee County, Mississippi to Mr. Peter (Pa) and Mrs. Mary Bell Taylor. He was raised in the Plum Grove area of nearby Columbus, Mississippi, and graduated from Motley High School in Lowndes County, Mississippi. He was a member of James Creek Baptist Church in Noxubee County, Mississippi.
After graduating from high school, Charles worked for Bigbee Transportation, Inc until he moved to Hobbs, New Mexico in 1980. He worked as a truck driver for many years retiring from his last employ at Green Energy in September 2024.
Tunie enjoyed watching old movies and the news, spending time with family at gatherings and listening to the blues. He always looked forward to talking with his friends, driving his truck, cooking a meal, and checking his luck with a lottery ticket.
Charles was preceded in death by his Father Peter Taylor, Mother Mary Bell Taylor, brothers: William Taylor, Walter Taylor, Peter Jr Taylor, Henry Taylor, and Lorenzo Perry.He leaves to cherish his life: sisters Mamie Taylor Lewis, (Hobbs, New Mexico); Jerry Dean Stewart, (Columbus, Mississippi); and brother David L. Stewart (Cheryl), (New Market, Alabama) a bonus daughter, Alexis Love Brown (Clarksville, Tennessee) and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
