Charley E. Kendrix passed away March 16, 2016 in Hobbs. A memorial gathering will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 PM on Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at the home of Linda Deming, 5930 N. Eugenia Lane in Hobbs.
Charley was born on December 2, 1927 to Alvie and Rose Marsh Kendrix in Soper, Oklahoma. He served his country in the United States Army from July 2, 1952 to June 11, 1954 and six years in the Army Reserves being Honorably Discharged on June 30, 1960. Charley spent most of his adult life working in the oilfield. He worked as a work over rig operator for Expert Well Service until he retired in 1992. Charley's favorite past time was his love of fishing and hunting. Until his health no longer allowed him to fish, you would find him at Green Meadow Lake or Harry McAdam's regularly. Charley never allowed you to leave his home without telling you to be careful and that he loved you.
Charley is survived by his wife of 36 years, Judy Kendrix; son, Charles Kendrix (Gloria) of Magnolia, Texas; daughter, Linda Kay Elliott of Matador, Texas; son, Robin Kendrix (Annetta) of Hobbs, New Mexico; step children, Linda Deming (Dean) of Hobbs, New Mexico, David Welty of Hobbs, New Mexico and Jennifer Welty (Lynn) of Bernalillo, New Mexico; sister, Edna Gallant (Homer) and brothers, Joe Kendrix (Billie), Alvis Kendrix (Virginia) and Ray Kendrix (Barbara) all of Soper, Oklahoma; ten grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and his mother-in-law, Alpha Williams.
He was preceded in death by his parents Alvie and Rose Kendrix; brother and sister-in-law, Arlie and Mildred Kendrix; grandson, Jacob Paul Kendrix; step daughter and her husband, Gearldine and Richard Solovic and his father-in-law, John Williams.
