Clinton Daniel Dan Cheatham, 71, of Hobbs, passed away, Monday, June 24, 2013 in Hobbs. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM, Friday, June 28, 2013 at Belvue Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Prairie Haven Memorial Park with Police Honors provided by the Hobbs Police Department. The family will receive friends from 5:00 7:00 PM, Thursday at Griffin Funeral Home.
Mr. Cheatham was born on April 6, 1942 in Magnolia, Arkansas to Clinton and Bernice Cheatham. He married Judy Beth Hooper on October 21, 1961 in Hobbs and they celebrated over 51 wonderful years together. Dan retired as a detective with the Hobbs Police Department after 23 years. After retirement, he worked as a salesman for Diesel Service Center. Dan enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting and spending time at the cabin. He cherished his coffee with Mike Johnson every morning and he loved being with his friends and family, especially his grand babies. He was preceded in death by his parents motherinlaw, Ozell Hooper fatherinlaw, John Hooper brotherinlaw, Bill Hennington sisterinlaw, Peggy Hennington brotherinlaw, Jim Hooper and sisterinlaw, Jean Hooper.
Survivors include his wife, Judy Cheatham of the home daughters, Sandra Rueckert and husband, Scott of New Ulm, MN, Danna Pallanes of Hobbs, Audrey Lindy Cheatham of Hobbs and Karen Cheatham of Hobbs his Mother, Louise Cheatham of Hobbs sister, Audrey Calvert of Garfield, TX brothers, Glenn Cheatham and wife, Kerri of Hobbs and Wayne Cheatham and girlfriend, Jonie Marquez of Hobbs grandchildren, Corey, Jarrett, Maegan, Jordan, Bryana, Brendon, Courtney, Kayla, Jacob, Hailey and Emily and great grandchildren, Janessa and Sophia.
