Corina Gutierrez Zamora went home to be with her Lord on January 9th 2018 surrounded by her loving family. She was born on September 20th 1925 to Eusebio Gutierrez and Jesusita Mercado in Edinburgh, Texas. She married the love of her life Guadalupe Zamora on December 26th 1944. Together "Ama" and "Apa" had 3 sons, four daughters, 45 grandchildren, 86 great-grandchildren and 55 great great-grandchildren. Ama was always creating unique gifts for everyone with her crocheting and sewing skills. She had a green thumb and was an avid gardener. She was an excellent cook who enjoyed feeding all her family. She was humble, giving, nurturing and loving. Above all else her biggest pride and joy in life was her enormous family. She is survived by daughter Maria Calderon and husband Victor, daughter Elena Vela and husband Eddie, son Juan Zamora and wife Alicia, daughter Ema Calderon and husband Joe, daughter Irma Ramirez and husband David. She was preceded in death by her husband Guadalupe Zamora, son Guadalupe Zamora Jr., son Raul Zamora, daughter-in-law Josefina Calderon Zamora, don-in-law Rosalio (Charlie) Ortega, grandsons Joey Calderon, Jerry Zamora, Pete Carranza, and great-great grandson Andre Hernandez. Pallbearers will be her grandsons Roy Calderon, Randy Zamora, Charlie Ortega, Juan Zamora, Jr., Sunny Ramirez, and great grandson Charlie Ray Ortega.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 12, 2018 at St. Helena Catholic Church with Father Joe Pacquing as Celebrant. Interment will follow in Prairie Haven Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 12:00 pm - 7:00 pm with a Rosary to be recited at 6:00 PM at Griffin Funeral Home.
