Dan Gross

George Dan Gross was welcomed into this world on May 23, 1932 in Floyd County, Texas by his mother and father, Fred and Eula Mae Gross. After Dan graduated from Floydada High School he served 3 years in the United States Armed Forces. Upon returning from the Army, Dan worked for 8 years farming the land in Floyd County. Dan married Barbara Bullock on June 11, 1955. The young couple would soon move to Clovis, New Mexico where Dan began his life long career as a salesman in the electrical wholesale industry.

In 1969, Dan and Barbara moved their family to Hobbs, New Mexico where Dan worked and became an industry leader for over 50 years. For many years Dan and Barbara adored traveling and admiring the beautiful desert scenery in Arizona. Dan took advantage of every opportunity to travel with his family and so enjoyed spending quality time together. Dan passed away from his earthly home on the evening of April 3, 2017 at 84 years of age.

Dan is preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Eula Mae Gross; twin brother, Dave Gross; brother, Alan Gross and sister, Olive Hinton. Dan is survived by his big, loving family. His wife of 61 years, Barbara; daughter, Angie and husband, Danny McConal of Hobbs; son, Steve Gross and wife, Karen of Wieser, Idaho; daughter, Linda and husband, Norman Johnson of Hobbs; sister Mary Sue Fowler; brothers, Jerry Gross and wife, JoAnn, Thacker Gross and wife, Joan and Lonnie Pat Gross and wife, Peggy; 7 grandchildren, Jennifer, Lindsey, Danielle, Desira, Chisholm, Abbey and Dakota; 8 great grandchildren, Chloe, Sydnee, Jace, Kaden, Dean, Hadley, Baer and December as well as many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, April 7, 2017 at First United Methodist Church with the Reverend Greg Kennedy, officiating. Interment with Military Honors will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday the 6th from 5:00-7:00 pm at Griffin Funeral Home.
