Daniel “DJ” Gambino went to be with his heavenly father on Monday, December 7, 2020.
He was born on January 18th, 1985 in Chicago Illinois to his parents; Daniel Edmund Lane and Cindy Anne Lane, one of six children.
DJ began dating the love of his life, Chelse JoAnn Taylor, in October 2010 and they were married on September 12, 2015. He inherited two awesome children; Madison Dane Taylor and Jaden Clury-Rae Taylor. Together, Chelse and DJ had Colton Daniel Joseph Gambino on April 10, 2019.
DJ graduated from the University of the South West with a bachelor’s degree in business, where he also played baseball and was an amazing pitcher. DJ was super proud of his degree and he was quick to make sure people knew he had one.
At the time of his death, DJ was a Product Support Representative for Wagner Equipment. There he was a valued team member and was described by his supervisor, Tony Rodriguez, as his “Star Rookie.” Tony said that in his interview, DJ answered one of Tony’s question with a chuckle and a smile and said, “I’m good enough to sell ice to an Eskimo!” Tony said it was this type of confidence that led him to hire DJ. Tony sent many positive statements from customers about DJ. One such customer said that DJ was a rare breed, one of the good ones and they had never seen a sales rep like him before. Another said DJ was a professional and pleasant salesperson and that they will miss his smiling face.
DJ loved his family more than anything. He worked tirelessly to provide for them and was always there with a big bear hug or a laugh when needed. His second love was sports, especially coaching his travel baseball team; Wreckless. DJ always said that his best friends were a bunch of eleven-year-old’s. DJ loved the kids on his team, as well as every other child he ever met. and he gave everything he had, to be a fantastic coach and mentor to these boys.
Another thing DJ loved was taking his family on beach vacations. He taught both Madi and Jaden how to snorkel and swim. He loved the water and the beach and jumped at every chance he could to take his family there.
DJ was a born-again believer in Jesus Christ and a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Hobbs. He loved learning new things from his bible and asked his favorite Aunt; Jackie and His Father-in-Law; Larry, so many important questions along the way.
DJ is survived by his wife; Chelse Gambino, children; Madison Taylor, Jaden Taylor and Colton Gambino. His mother and father Cindy and Danny Lane. All his brothers and sisters; Steve Farley, Charlotte Fermen, Gina Hain, Mark Farley, Misty Dawn and several nieces and nephews.
DJ was preceded in death by: Grandparents; Walter F Puzan and Evelyn Puzan. Grandmother Laura Lucarelli and Uncle Johnny Lane.
DJ’s passing will leave an incredible scar on all his family and friends, including every child he ever coached, or helped to coach, for the past decade.
