Deanna S. Dee Robinson, 73, passed away at home on Sunday, December 8, 2013. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, December 11, 2013 in Prairie Haven Cemetery.
Dee was born on April 19, 1940 in Mangum, Oklahoma, and was the daughter of Roland B. and Katea Elizabeth Fraley Trout. During her growingup years, she helped her dad and little brother on wheat harvest by driving the grain truck.
She was raised in Gould, Oklahoma and graduated from Gould High School in 1958. After graduating from high school with basketball honors, she was offered to play for the Redheads, a professional basketball team. She declined the offer and moved to Hobbs, New Mexico in 1958 to visit her aunt and uncle. Shortly after moving to Hobbs she met the love of her life, Charles A. Robinson, Jr.. After a whirlwind courtship they were married June 12, 1959 and were blessed with a daughter and son.
Dee was a selftaught, accomplished seamstress and enjoyed crocheting and doing all sorts of craft work. Other enjoyments included playing any game whether on the computer or at the kitchen table and playing basketball with her grandchildren. She had an abundant amount of energy.
Her greatest accomplishments included coaching Girls Bobby Sox Softball, Lea County Assessor, President of the New Mexico Association of Counties NMAC and serving on several committees for the National Association of Counties NACO. Dee was a staunch supporter of Lea County and the State of New Mexico by being involved in many local community activities and organizations as well as a goodwill ambassador for the county and state throughout the nation.
She was preceded in death by her father, Roland B. Trout. Survivors include her husband, Charley Robinson, of the home two children, Cathy Ann Truett of Lovington, and Andy Robinson and wife Colleen of Hobbs one brother, Jerry Lee Trout and wife, Jeannie of Belen, New Mexico 6 grandchildren, Jacob Lovas and wife Mayra, Matt Lovas, Magen Turnacliff, Mackenzie Robinson, Bailey Robinson, and Drew Robinson and 2 greatgrandchildren, Aaliyah Turnacliff and Aniston Turnacliff.
