Doris Smith

Doris Jean Smith, 87, of Hobbs, passed away on Friday, November 14, 2014 at Lea Regional Medical Center. She was born May 10, 1927 in Rush Springs, Oklahoma to William Andrew Heisch and Hattie Naomi Davis Heisch who preceded her in death.

She was also preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Ted C. Smith on September 20, 2006 four brothers, Henry, Paul, Pete and Kenneth Heisch and two sisters, Leta Sharp and Loyce Bachman.

Survivors include her daughter, Gail Pevey of Hobbs, daughter and soninlaw, Cindy and Jim Bullock of Hobbs, son and daughterinlaw, Gary C. and Sylvia Smith of Hobbs, grandchildren, Rickey Taylor and Kris Taylor and Kathy of Hobbs, Lyndsey Smith and Allisyn Smith of Lubbock, Texas, great grandchildren Kristopher and KaMiah of Hobbs, two sisters, Joyce Shockley and husband Burnice of Denver, Colorado, Judy Williams of Portales, NM, one brother, J.R. Heisch and wife Donna of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, one sisterinlaw, Billie Heisch of Albuquerque, NM, a cousin, Mildred McLain of Hart, Texas and a host of nieces and nephews.

At her request, cremation will take place and the family will hold a private graveside service at a later date. Her ashes will be placed beside her husband in Prairie Haven Memorial Park.
