Edna Sisson of Hobbs left this world behind on May 3, 2019, in Lubbock, Texas, at the age of 84.
Edna was born to Roy H. and Mary Ann McCrory on July 30, 1934, in Oklahoma City, Okla. One of six children, Edna enjoyed her large family, especially at holiday times when big groups gathered in small but happy homes. Family was at the heart of everything for Edna. She taught those same values to her children and grandchildren. Edna was a homemaker who managed her home, cooked and raised her children while also working for 25 years - most of that time as a kindergarten teacher's aide at Booker T. Washington with a few years spent at Edison. Edna was known as kind and loving. She loved helping children learn and grow into the people she knew they could be. Enda also enjoyed the growing plants, loving her dogs and eating lunch with her best friend, Doris. A fellow church friend paid tribute to her by saying, "Edna's life was a testimony to her love for her family, church, and everyone she met. She will always be smiling."
Edna will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Edna is preceded in death by her loving parents, a sister, three brothers and her beloved husband, Paul Sisson. Paul and Edna were happily married for over 65 years. Left to treasure her memory are her three children, Paula R. Liss (Ron), Deborah Cooper (Royce) and Mark Sisson (Lauri), nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, James McCrory (Sharron), sister-in-law, Jean McCrory, her dog, Ginger, and a host of extended family and friends.
Funeral services for Edna will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 11, 2019, at First United Methodist Church in Hobbs. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m.-8 p.m. on Friday, May 10, 2019, at Griffin Funeral Home. Services are under the direction of Griffin Funeral Home.
