Gayron Brown

Gayron Robbie Brown, of Hobbs, passed from this life to the next on September 9, 2020. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 15, 2020 from 10am-1pm, with a graveside service to be held at 1:30pm at Prairie Haven Memorial Park.

Gayron was born February 9, 1944 in Boaz, Alabama to Rayford and Rosie Brown, one of five children. At the age of 9 his family moved to Hobbs, where he made his home, graduated from school and lived out his later years surrounded by his family. A proud veteran, Gayron served in the US Army as a Military Policemen from 1968-1970 in the Vietnam War. After his service, he settled into domestic life. In the early 70’s he married Nettie and together they raised their daughter, Rebecca. Gayron was a firm believer in hard work, becoming the Superintendent of Operations for Mesa Limited Partnership. During his work Gayron moved about a lot, going all over New Mexico, Amarillo, Texas and Kansas before coming home again. He retired in 2000 to care for his terminally ill wife, who passed later that same year. During this time he did not remain idle, but went back to college to earn a Masters Degree in Teaching from the College of the Southwesest. Gayron found love again in Neva, and they shared another 12 years together before she passed in 2014. In the last 10 years of his life, his greatest joy could be found in his two grandsons, Jaxon and Zayne. He loved those two boys and spent all the time he could with them.  His life was varied and complex, and he lived it to the fullest. He will be deeply missed by the family he leaves behind, his daughter, Rebecca and grandsons, sisters Phyllis Davis, Charlotte Gilliland and Cathy Davis, his brother Jimmy Brown, as well as the children of his loving second wife; Donnie and Melanie Irwin and Mitchell and Carrie Irwin, and her grandchildren children Tyler, Rance, Ayden, Jack, Finn and Cian. He is also survived by host of extended family and friends who meant the world to him.

Preceding him in passing are his parents and nephew Jason Davis.
