James Frederick Cox, Sr., 65, of Lubbock, formerly of Hobbs passed away Thursday, September 21, 2017 in Lubbock. Funeral services will be 11:00 am, Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at Crosswinds Community Church with Pastor Michael Cox, officiating. Interment with Military Honors will follow in Prairie Haven Memorial Park. Visitation will be Monday from 1:00-7:00 PM at Griffin Funeral Home.
James was born on May 16, 1952 in Paris, Tennessee. He served his country during the Vietnam War in the United States Navy. James married Peggy Baker on October 16, 1971 in Hobbs, NM and they celebrated over 45 wonderful years of marriage. He was a master mechanic of all things. James enjoyed dancing and music. James was preceded in death by his mother, Annie Chapple.
Survivors include his wife, Peggy Cox of the home; daughters, Angela Cox and LuAnn Cox, both of Lubbock; sons, Michael Cox and his wife, Coloma of Austin, TX and James Cox, Jr. of Lubbock; brothers, Leroy Chapple and Michael Bruce; grandchildren, Keirra Tubbs, Amari Cox, Charles Cox, Isaiah Cox, Anthony Cox, Josiah Cox, Joseph Cox, James Cox and Kennedie Cox and great granddaughter, Ma'lay Davis.
