Jearl Blakley

Jearl “JD” Blakley was born August 20, 1936, in Electra, Texas to Efrain and Lizzie. Jearl lost his battle to cancer on his 86th birthday August 20, 2022 at home surrounded by family. He was the youngest of eight children.

Jearl joined the Marines in 1954 and was deployed to the Korean War. Upon returning from the war, he met the love of his life Alice Loftin at the Whistlestop Café in Electra, Texas. They were blessed with 48 years together and had three children.

JD and Alice moved to Hobbs, New Mexico in the early 1970’s where he worked in the oilfield for many years. Jearl enjoyed spending time with family, and he loved to dance. He never met a stranger and always had a smile on his face. He loved to take care of everyone around him. He was blessed with seven grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Alice, three brothers, two sisters, his daughter Sharon Kaye, son Larry Don, and granddaughter Misty Blakley.

Left to cherish his memory are his sisters Laura Boyd and Marvella Kee, daughter Rhonda Pierantoni and husband Keith, six grandchildren: Amy and husband Ray Jones, Jackie and husband Ronnie Brooks, Amanda Gomez, Jeff “Bubba” Blakley and wife Tasha, Aaron and wife Ariana “Yaya” Pierantoni, Lacey, and husband Jack Tedford.

21 Great-grandchildren Ronnie Evans, D’Andre “Joe” and wife Ally Austin, Jeremiah Gleba, Hannah Gleba, Alyssa “Susie” Jones, Seth Blakley, Markus Gleba, Rachel Gleba, Elizabeth Gleba, A ‘Darius “AJ” Proby, A’Rianna “Riri” Proby, his partner in crime Ariah “Faye” Owens, Rylee Blakley, Brooklyn Blakley, Kade Pierantoni, Jaylen Brooks, Kash Pierantoni, Sinncere “Marie” Brooks, Raeleigh Tedford, Madalyn Tedford, and Kayce Pierantoni. Three great-great grandchildren Liam Gleba, D’Andre “DJ” Austin Jr., and Zadyn Najera. Numerous nieces and nephews and many friends.
