John Blocker, 92, passed away Tuesday, November 12, 2013 in Denver, Colorado.
Funeral services will be 10:00 AM, Saturday, November 16, 2013 at First United Methodist Church with Reverend Darren Skinner, officiating. Interment will follow in Cooper Cemetery, Jal, New Mexico. Military Honors will be provided by the United States Marine Corps.
Mr. Blocker was born on December 18, 1920 in Stanton, Texas to John and Jenny Mae Blocker. Mr. Blocker served his country in the United States Marine Corp. He married Betty Jo Leatherwood on April 12, 1943 in Big Spring, Texas and they celebrated over 70 years of wonderful marriage together. Mr. Blocker sold real estate and insurance for 37 years in Jal. He moved to South Dakota and ranched for 30 years. After retiring, Mr. and Mrs. Blocker resided in Hobbs for 10 years and then moved to Denver in 2010 to be near their children.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Blocker daughters, Sue Goosen, Judi Dyer and Jenni Bagaus 7 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
