John Driscoll

John J. Driscoll, Jr., 68, of Hobbs, passed away Thursday, July 11, 2013 in Hobbs. Graveside services will be 1:00 PM, Thursday, July 18, 2013 in Memory Gardens Cemetery with Deacon Sam Navarrette, celebrant. Military Honors will be provided by the United States Air Force.

Mr. Driscoll was born on October 7, 1944 in Buffalo, NY to John and Erma Driscoll, Sr. He moved to Albuquerque at a young age. After schooling at New Mexico Military Institute and University of New Mexico, he worked for a major grocery store and the FAA until entering private business in Carlsbad. John moved to Hobbs in 1982 and owned Astro Liquors until 2007. He was an avid runner and enjoyed history and mathematics. John was president of Lea County Liquor Dealers Association and supported many of Hobbs athletic programs. Every year he fed Thanksgiving dinner to those less fortunate. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his sisters, Susan Scott and husband, Robert and Martha Irving and husband, Chuck brothers, Bill Driscoll and wife, Nancy and Patrick Driscoll and wife, Lisa numerous nieces and nephews and special friend, Sheila Laws.
