April 18, 1994 — May 26, 2019

Jose Martinez

Jose Daniel Martinez passed into Heaven on May 26, 2019 in Hobbs, New Mexico at the age of 25. He was born April 18, 1994 to Ruben Flores and Gloria Martinez. He was a beautiful happy baby, one of nine siblings, he grew up smiling. Jose was an athletic child, playing football, basketball and fishing when he could. No matter what he was up to, he always had time for his family. He loved his mother and siblings fiercely, protecting and teasing his brothers as only siblings can. As Jose grew up he worked hard at his dreams, at having a better life and becoming the best he could be in all aspects of his life. Stepping up to the plate when no one else would, taking care of his family and friends.
Growing up he developed special bonds with some of his family members. He was exceptionally protective of his mother, referring to her as "his mom" even to his brothers. He also was very close to his Aunt Mandy, who regarded him more as a little brother or friend than a nephew. Jose also had a great relationship with his brother Adam, and Uncle Eddie with whom he shared a bond like no other.
Jose got his first job at the age of 16 at Denny's, and from the day he started working he always worked to be better, going after every promotion and kept his eyes open for better jobs. He eventually started working for Tilley Pressure Test and worked his way up to shop manager. His work ethic and ability were highly praised by those he worked with.
Of course, Jose knew how to kick back and have a great time as well, playing poker, BBQs with family and friends and spending time with his lovely wife and children. He was a great Dad, who would do anything for his kids. He also acted as a father figure to many other people in his life, helping out and stepping up to give everyone a shot at being better.
He is preceded in death by his grandmother Rosa Ortega, great-grandparents Edwarda and Jose Ortega, grandfather Jimmy Flores and great grandmother Estella Duarte-Calvillo and Maria Flores, as well as sister Uriah Flores. He is also preceded by his stepfather Clay Medrano.
Jose is survived by his wife Amy Flores and children Ruben D. Martinez, Kiing Z. Martinez, Jordan W. Flores and a baby boy who is on his way. He is also survived by his parents Gloria Martinez and Ruben Flores, siblings: Michael Ortega, Adam Martinez, Tyree Flores, Ruben Flores, Nanis Medrano, Robert Medrano, Iris Flores, Seth Flores and Tori Ituarte; grandparents, Patricia & Santos Pena and Lucy Barajas; great-grandfather Andrew Calvillo; special friend, Jasmyne Castillo and two special cousins that were like brothers to him Jesse Flores and Pablo Ortega, Jr. He is also survived by his "second parents" Richard and Stacie Ramirez, aunt Mandy Flores, uncle Eddie Ortega, and numerous other Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and friends. This very special man will be deeply missed by all those who knew him.
