Juan Antonio Gonzalez, 34, of Hobbs, passed away Tuesday, August 4, 2015 in Hobbs. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 PM, Friday, August 7, 2015 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Father Ruben Romero, Celebrant. Interment will follow in Prairie Haven Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 1:00-8:00 pm, Thursday with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 pm at Griffin Funeral Home.
Juan was born on May 13, 1981 in Hobbs, NM to Macario and Bernabe Perez. He loved music and horses. Juan worked in Lovington and Hobbs for many years. He was a horse trainer and loved riding horses. His passion was playing in the band, Los Brillantes de Chihuahua. Juan played many instruments and was the lead man for the band. Los Brillantes de Chihuahua was well known in the area. He was preceded in death by his mother, Bernabe Perez and grandmother, Paula Minez.
Survivors include his son, Elijah James Gonzalez of Lovington; father, Macario Perez of Hobbs; sister, Luisa Lerma and husband, Carlos of Hobbs; brothers, Aaron Miguel Varela, and wife, Rachel of Hobbs and Armando Gonzalez and wife, Sandra of Amarillo, TX and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
