Katherine Clay

Katherine Jones , of Hobbs, New Mexico. passed away February 28, 2019 at the age of 95. She was born January 1, 1924 in Buffalo TX to Jim and Evelina Henderson. In 1940, she married Joe Jones Sr. and later moved to Hobbs, New Mexico in the mid-1940's where they would establish their families, careers and many accomplishments. Joe Jones Sr., worked for BF Walker and Griffin Funeral Home until he retired and home to be the Lord in November, 1986.
Katherine worked for several private homes over the years including, the Lucks, The Johnsons and Mike & Darnell Sims, but most notably at the Pauline's Style Shop in downtown Hobbs for over 30 years.
Katherine was a member of the Pentecostal Temple Church Of God In Christ for over 70 years where she was the "Church Mother", as well as, serving in many offices and auxiliaries. She was a saint in the truest sense and loved her church with unconditional passion.
In 1996, Katherine married Clim Clay and were married for married for 17 years until his demise.
She is preceded in death by her husbands, Joe Jones Sr and Clem Clay, and a son Joe Jones Jr.
Left to treasure her memory are her children Robert Jones, Ricki Johnson, James E Jones, James LaKeith Jones, Carolyn Jones and Jackie Lewis, 14 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her extended family Juanita, Deborah, Clemmie and Donnie 26 additional grandchildren and 45 great grandchildren. Katherine will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Celebration of Life Services will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2019 at the Christ Holy Temple Church Of God In Christ at 11:00am. There will be a Wake and Viewing, Friday, March 8, 2019 at the Pentecostal Temple Church Of God In Christ from 6:00-7:30pm where friends are invited to share memories of her life.
