Louis Corpus Salazar 88 years old went to be with the Lord on November 17, 2013 in San Angelo, TX. Louis was a native Texan born in Tyler on March 1, 1925. He proudly served in World War II serving in the United States Navy, SIC Asiatic area one star, American area Philippines liberation, Victory Medal WWII and Amphibious operations base, transporting personnel from the ship to land. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in San Angelo, TX.
Louis was a resident of Hobbs, NM for many years. He retired from Hobbs Iron Metal as a foreman after 40 years. In July of 1997 he relocated to San Angelo, TX. Louis is survived by his beloved Elsie Salazar, married over 61 years two sons, Edwin from Carencro, LA and Louis Jr. of Dallas, TX 3 daughters, Jennie Harrington of San Francisco, CA, Yolanda Lozano of San Angelo, TX and Barbara Timmons of Jacksonville, FL 15 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. His greatest love in life was his wife followed by spending time with his family. He enjoyed watching old westerns while drinking his Dr. Pepper and eating popcorn. Louis appreciated the ocean and for its vast beauty and the city of San Francisco. He was a diehard Dallas Cowboy fan and implemented a do not disturb time even for his beloved wife, Elsie.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 AM, Thursday, November 21, 2013 at St. Helena Catholic Church with Father Juan Carlos Ramirez, Celebrant. Interment will follow in Prairie Haven Memorial Park with Military Honors provided by the United States Navy Honor Guard. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 PM, Wednesday the 20th at Griffin Funeral Home.
