Margaret Evans Saline, 90, of Hobbs, passed away Saturday, January 31, 2015 in Hobbs. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, February 7, 2015 at First Baptist Church with Pastor Harry Pittam, officiating.
Margaret was born on June 11, 1924 in Las Vegas, NM. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of New Mexico and her Master's degree from McCormick Seminary in Chicago, IL. Margaret worked for the Library of Congress and the Pentagon. She then joined the Women's Army Corp and served for 4 years during World War II; after which, she worked at the American Embassy in Tehran, Iran. Margaret married Robert Saline and they celebrated over 49 wonderful years of marriage until his death on August 24, 2014. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Lucile Evans, founders of the University of the Southwest, and her sister, Nell Lachen.
Survivors include her sister, Mabel "Lou" Lovett; brother, Clarence Evans; nephew and nieces, David Sr., Sharon, JoAnn and Sarah Evans; great nephews and nieces, Leslie Rodriguez, David Evans, Jenifer Evans and Stephen Evans and 9 great-great nephews and nieces.
