Martha Brock

Martha Colley Brock, 89, formerly of Hobbs, passed away Thursday, March 17, 2016 in Dallas, TX. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM, Tuesday, March 22, 2016 at First Baptist Church with Pastor Larry Brock officiating. Interment will follow in Prairie Haven Memorial Park. Visitation will be Monday from 1:00-7:00 PM at Griffin Funeral Home.

Martha was born on November 7, 1926 in El Dorado, Arkansas to Mattie and D. Troy Colley. She married William J. Brock on September 27, 1946 in Hobbs, NM and they celebrated over 69 wonderful years of marriage. Martha worked for several oil companies but retired from Humble Oil and Refinery after 27 years. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi, Desk and Derrick, Grandmothers Club (Black & Gold), Yucca Garden Club, Toastmistress Club and the Writer's Club (Editor's Choice). Martha was a member of First Baptist Church for over 50 years and faithfully attended the Berean and Encounter Sunday School Classes. She also served on the history committee. Martha enjoyed writing poetry and children's short stories, as well as traveling. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Cynthia Brock Gautreaux and brothers, D. Troy Colley, Jr. and Jack Colley.

Survivors include her husband, Bill Brock of Dallas; son, Jon M. Brock and wife, Evangeline of Dallas, TX; sister, Charlotte Smith of Snyder, TX; grandchildren, Andrew Gautreaux, Adrienne Gautreaux McDonald, Emily Gautreaux, Raleigh Lane and Kristine Brock; great grandchildren, Graeme McDonald and Mia McDonald and numerous nieces and nephews.
