Mauricio Astorga Cervantes, of Hobbs, entered the gates of Heaven on August 15, 2021, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He was born on May 20, 1975, in Hobbs, New Mexico to Antonio Cervantes and Romelia Astorga. Funeral services for Mauricio will be held on Thursday, August 26, at the Cowboy Junction at 3pm. Family and Friends are welcome to Griffin Funeral Home on Wednesday August 25 from 12-7pm to pay their respects.
Mauricio was a hardworking, jack of all trades, stubborn and loving man. When he put his mind to it, there was nothing he couldn’t do. From crafting a new kitchen for his wife, to starting his own ranch, or working hard in the oil fields, Mauricio did everything he could to see his family well provided for. His greatest joy was his family, watching his children and grandchildren become successful at what they set their minds to. Mauricio loved having family close to him, his own children, or his nephews who loved being around and helping him. His solid and dependable presence will be deeply missed by all those who knew him.
Mauricio is preceded in passing by three brothers.
Left to remember him always are his wife Teresa Cervantes, children Anthony Angel Cervantes (Mikaela), Cesar Angel Cervantes, and Jessica Mari Cervantes, his parents Antonio Cervantes and Romelia Astorga, brothers Armando Cervantes, Sergio Cervantes, and Oscar Cervantes, grandchildren Elsa Nicole Cervantes, Emmie Grace Cervantes, Araceli Soccoro Cervantes, plus one on the way and his nephews Kyle Jeremiah “Jeremy” Cervantes and Marcus Antonio Cervantes. He is also survived by a host of extended family and friends.
