Hobbs, NM -- Early Sunday morning, February 16th, Moises P. Martinez (“Poh Poh”) passed away in the presence of his family in his home of almost 60 years.
Moises is survived by his wife of 58 years, Leonor Martinez and their four children: Fabian Martinez, Naomi Ramirez, Sonya Martinez, and Michelle Cortez. He is also survived by siblings: Dolores Bernal, Ramona Bastardo, Guadalupe Casas, Juanita Martinez, Felipe Martinez and preceded in death by Eliza Martinez. Moises is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Moises Martinez was born on July 12, 1937 in Eagle Pass, Texas. He was married to his beautiful wife Leonor for 58 wonderful years and one of his favorite pass-times was working in the garden alongside her at their family home. He traveled often to visit his children Fabian, Naomi, Sonya and grandchildren in Phoenix, Arizona and frequently visited daughter Michelle in Odessa, Texas. Though there are a million words we could use to describe Moises, two words can fully encompass the type of man he was: “Family Man.” Through his hardworking nature, Moises always put his family before anything else. He poured his love into his wife, children and grandchildren. He loved making people laugh and made sure to never miss a single celebration or the accomplishments of his loved ones. His smile was warm and sincere and one of the most contagious things in this world. Aside from the love he had for his family, he loved fishing, a good movie, and family road trips or just a drive around town. Moises lived humbly and wholesomely, and above all, with the most joyous and loving heart.
