Paula T. Ybarra, (Ama) of Hobbs, passed away Monday, August 24, 2015 at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM, Friday, August 28, 2015 at Bethel Assembly of God, with Pastor Joe D. Hernandez, officiating. Interment will follow in Prairie Haven Memorial Park. Visitation will be held Thursday from 1:00-8:00 pm. at Griffin Funeral Home.
Paula was born on January 22, 1929 in Marathon, TX to Domingo and Juana Terrazas. She liked to crochet and sew. Paula was a woman of God; she was president of the women's ministry for 35 years and taught Vacation Bible School at her churches, Eternal Life and Sendero de la Cruz. Paula was very loving and took care of many people; everyone called her "Ama". She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Ybarra, Sr.; 3 daughters; 3 grandchildren and 2 great grandchilden.
Survivors include her daughters, Erma Valenzuela (Ishmael) of Artesia, Aurora Rojo (Cesar) of Albuquerque, Frances Chavarria (Tito) of Hobbs, Esperanza Calderon (Ruben) of Hobbs, Alice Pena (Raul) of Albuquerque and Rosa Hidalgo (Wilfred) of Albuquerque; sons, Andres Ybarra of Albuquerque, Raymond Ybarra, Jr. (Betty) of Carlsbad and Ruben Ybarra (Priscilla) of Hobbs; sister, Frances Rodriguez of Fort Stockton, TX; brother, Vicente Garcia of Lubbock, TX and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
