Willie Pearl Petties, of Hobbs, passed from this life on February 13, 2020 at her home. She was born on October 27, 1934 in Texas to Luther and Thelma Conner. A memorial service for Pearl will be held on Monday, February 24, 2020 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses at 10am.
At the age of 10, her family moved to Hobbs, where Pearl attended Booker T. Washington School from elementary to highschool. During her time at school she met her lifelong partner and husband, Curties Petties, and together they raised two children, Kenneth and Brenda. Pearl made their home a haven, always warm and inviting to visit or to live in. She also was a fierce defender of her family and friends, taking care of those who were important to her. After the passing of her husband four years ago, Pearl stayed fiercely independent, living on her own until her passing in the same house they shared for over 65 years.
Pearl was a social person, she loved spending time with her family and friends. One of her greatest joys was to hold garage sales for herself and friends. Known as the Garage Sale Lady locally, she would collect things from her own home and from others to hold extensive sales over the last 20 years. These sales are where she would shine, having people come to chat with her about anything and everything. During these sales she made many friends who will miss her dearly.
Preceding her in death are her parents, beloved husband Curties Petties, 3 sisters and a brother.
Left to treasure her memory are her children Kenneth Petties and Brenda Petties, sister Ella Conner Greer, brother in law Claud Brooks, and grandchildren Kidada Petties, Jannéh Petties and Kyle Martin Petties. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family members and friends.
The Petties Family would like to thank you in advance for the many cards, flowers, meals and well wishes received.
