Phillip J. Perez

Phillip J. Perez, 73 of Hobbs, New Mexico, passed away on October 28, 2023. He was born on July 5, 1950, in Chihuahua, Mexico to Dolores and Bertha Perez.

At five years old, along with his seven sisters and parents, he moved to Hobbs, N.M. He graduated from Hobbs High School and received his bachelor’s degree from the CSW with honors. He was drafted to serve in the US army in 1970. He worked for Phillips 66 for 19 years and Geo for 14 years.

In 1970, he married Frances Bejar, and they shared 53 years together. They raised three daughters and had an open door to anyone that needed him.

Phillip was an avid reader. There isn’t a western movie he hasn’t seen or a western book that he hasn’t read. In his spare time, he played golf, watched his Washington Redskins, and coached his daughters’ softball teams.

His favorite past time was hanging out with his wife, three girls and spouses, grandkids, and great grandkids. He loved to barbecue for them and anyone else who walked through the door. He enjoyed conversation and had plenty to say regarding history and politics. He was a man who never met a stranger.

Phillip is preceded in death by his parents Dolores & Bertha Perez, and sisters Rose Alvarez and Irma Espinoza.

He is survived by his loving wife, Frances Perez; his three daughters Veronica Arguello, Elisa Milligan (Scott), and Tweety Espinoza (Benji); his grandkids Ashlee, Alx, Ariana (Eric), Abby, Miranda, Phillip, Jonathan, Pete, Lili, Aaron & Addison; his great grandkids, Mason, Lincoln, Averie, Vincent, Ben, Penelope, Abraham; Sisters MaryLou Pallanes (Nay), Martha Espinoza (Oscar), Mary Espinoza (Robert), Alicia Alvarez (Ernie), & Betty Perez .  He had numerous nieces and nephews, and very large family that he was proud to call his. 

Many years of memories were built with his extended family, Emma & Frank Hernandez, Mary & Richard Espinoza, Lydia & Alfred Chavez, Trini Bejar & Bardo Bejar and Albert Bejar

Services for Phillip are as follows: Rosary at 6:00 pm at Griffin Funeral Home on November 6^th. Religious service at St. Helens Catholic Church on November 7^th at 2:00 pm.
