Pilar Chavez Jr.

Pilar Chavez Jr., of Hobbs NM, has passed through Heaven’s gate on June 22, 2020 at the age of 42.  He was born in Pecos, Texas, to Pilar Chavez Sr. and Celia (Sally) Chavez on August 3, 1977. A memorial service will be held in his honor at 2pm on Tuesday June 30, 2020 at Griffin funeral home. Please be advised that masks are required at the Funeral Home

Pilar, also known as Jr Pilo or (June-bug) was the life of the party. He always made sure he had a good time, making people laugh by telling jokes.  Jr was happiest when he was surrounded by family and friends.  He enjoyed getting lost in music and watching his favorite team the Dallas Cowboys win. Jr Pilo loved watching his boys play sports, cheering them on, letting them know to be good. He would talk about them all the time; they were definitely his pride and joy. Jr was kind and had a huge heart and big smile. He was loyal to those he loved and respected, always ready to help anyone however he could. No one was a stranger to Jr, he would make friends and start up a conversation with anyone! Jr Pilo will be dearly missed by those who knew him and love him.

Proceeding Pilar in passing are his dad Pilar Chavez Sr., cousin Gilbert Fuentes and his Tio Ofy.

Those left to carry on his memory are his mom Sally, sons Nikolas Chavez, Jalen “Paco” Chatman and Ethan Chavez, siblings Michael (Heather) Chavez, Michelle Tavarez, Melinda (Roel) Morillo, Roxanne (Joe) Garcia, and Elizabeth Chavez. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and numerous extended family.
