Raul Zamora, 66, of Kermit, formerly of Hobbs, passed away Sunday, June 2, 2013 in Odessa, TX. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 AM, Friday, June 7, 2013 at St. Helena Catholic Church with Father Juan Carlos Ramirez, celebrant. Interment will follow in Prairie Haven Cemetery. A rosary will be recited at 6:00 PM, Thursday at Griffin Funeral Home.
Mr. Zamora was born on January 7, 1947 in Willacy County, TX to Guadalupe and Corina Gutierrez Zamora. He married Josephine Calderon on November 18, 1966
In Lovington, NM. They celebrated and greatly enjoyed each others presence over 49 wonderful years together. He loved his wife very, very dearly and his family and friends as well. Mr. Zamora worked as a roofer throughout his life and he owned RZ Roofing, to which to he was considered a legend at such work. He was a dedicated hard working man and also he was an idol and a hero to his sons, grandchildren, and to his family and friends. He lived in Hobbs all of his life until he moved to Kermit 17 years ago. Raul was an outdoors man who loved deer hunting and made his own knives, bows and arrows and spears. He was a wonderful son, father, grandfather, brother and friend and who will be dearly missed. Raul was preceded in death by his wife, Josephine father, Guadalupe Zamora son, Jerry Zamora and brother, Lupe Zamora, Jr.
Survivors include his daughters, Laura Zamora and Joanne Zamora sons, Manuel Zamora, Raul Zamora, Jr., Noel Zamora and Randy Zamora mother, Corina Zamora sisters, Mary Calderon, Elena Ortega, Emma Calderon and Irma Ramirez brother, Juan Zamora 26 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and numerous nephews and nieces.
