Ray Martin Hernandez

Ray Martin Hernandez was born on December 6th, 1964, to Pete and Felipa Hernandez in Cleveland, Mississippi. He died November 10, 2024.

Ray is survived by his loving wife Maria Hernandez “little girl”, his one and only son Javen Hernandez, his daughters Jazmine and husband Rick Rivas, Stephanie and husband Jason Wheeler, Natalie and husband Patrick Muniez, and Krystal Hernandez, one sister Cindy Hernandez, his grandchildren Kacelynn Muniez, Amryn Wheeler, Adhyx Wheeler, Daxsyn Rivas, Brixsyn Rivas, Huxsyn Rivas, Beckham Muniez, Aubree Garcia, Bleu Wheeler, Kaz Wheeler, and numerous brothers in laws, sisters in laws, nieces, and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents Pete and Felipa Hernandez, 3 brothers Pete Jr, Mike, and Johnny Hernandez.

Daddy Ray as everyone called him or Popis was more than just a father, he was a mentor, friend, and the best storyteller. He was never flashy or in your face, in many ways he was a quiet and unassuming man. Unless he was talking about the Cowboys and letting everyone know how much they suck. His sense of humor was legendary and rubbed off on anyone that was near him. He could make anyone laugh even in the darkest moments. But it was beneath the surface that his true passion and principles lay. That was evident how he put his family first. His family leant on him for any and everything and he was the rock that never let them down. His daily devotion to spoiling his wife “little girl” was truly inspiring for all who knew how much he loved her. Their 35yr marriage was a shining example of true partnership and they built a home on love, laughter, and warmth. He had an unwavering dedication to showing up for his girls, Javen and all his grandchildren. From coaching little dribblers, little league, and being the first one in the stands to cheer. His son-in-laws were his true best friends. Daddy Ray was dad, friend, and family to everyone who came around, friends of his girls, son, and grandchildren, he welcomed all and showed up for them as well. Daddy Ray’s greatest accomplishment was his family, and was proud of his wife, 3 girls and Javen. To our Daddy Ray, thank you for the stories, lessons, memories, and the legacy of putting family first so we always have each other. We will miss you love you always and forever.
