Rosalinda Ramirez

Rosalinda Ramirez, 68, of Hobbs, passed away Thursday, June 23, 2016 in Hobbs. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 am, Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at St. Helena Catholic Church with Reverend Ricardo Bauzá, celebrant. Interment will follow in Prairie Haven Memorial Park. Visitation will be at Griffin Funeral Home on Monday from 9:00 am-7:00 pm with a rosary being recited at 6:00 pm.

Rosalinda was born on September 23, 1947 in Big Spring, Texas to Epolito and Elfida Ortega. She loved working with children and taught school for over 25 years. Her church, St. Helena Catholic Church, was an important part of her life; she read her bible faithfully and always prayed for everyone. Rosalinda had a zest for life; was a joy to be around and was loved by many. She was passionate about wrestling and absolutely could not be disturbed while watching the matches on television. Rosalinda loved her family very much and was an awesome mom. She was preceded in death by her mother, Elfida Melendez; 3 brothers and1 sister.

Survivors include her daughters, Lisa Pena (Phillip) of Odessa, TX and Kimberly Ramirez of Hobbs; sons, Michael Ramirez of Sacramento, CA, J.R. Ramirez (Brian Geary) of Sacramento, CA and Timothy Ramirez of Hobbs; father, Epolito Ortega of Artesia, NM; sisters, Celia Sherfick of Hobbs, Mary Pina of Hobbs, Carolina Hernandez and Silvia Ortega; brothers, Richard Ortega, Albert Ortega and Robert Ortega; 7 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members.
