Ruby Jewel Bingham

Ruby Jewel Bingham (Judy, R.J., or just Mom) has passed away just two months short of her 97^th birthday. Graveside services are scheduled for Friday, June 14, 2024, at 11:00 am at Prairie Haven Memorial Park.

Born to Vernon Edwin Taylor and Ruby Lorraine Pruitt Taylor on August 3, 1927, in Chickasha, OK. Raised in Lamar, CO and graduated high school in Plainview, TX. Ruby married Wesley Bingham on January 8, 1952, in Lovington, NM and they celebrated over 58 years together before Wesley’s passing in 2010. Ruby worked at Hobbs Cleaners driving the delivery van for 40+ years. She also took in ironing for over 70+ years. She always said that ironing was her good therapy. Mom stayed busy raising sons Jim, Buck, Randy, Kirby, daughters Janna, and Cindy.

Judy, as she was known by all her nieces and nephews, that learned that she could hold her own as a 42 partner, and also enjoyed playing cards or Scrabble at just about any time. She loved to play games. Back in the day Mom always had a pot of beans and a pan of cornbread ready to eat. Mom was a little head strong and sometimes narrow minded, but she would pray for you, family or not to no end.

Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, Edwin and Ruby Lorraine, her husband Wesley, one son Kirby, one daughter Cindy, two sisters, Christine, Jan, and one brother, Bud.

She is survived by sons, Jim of Hobbs, Buck and his wife Lara, daughter Janna Jones Bingham of Hobbs and son Randy of Hobbs, brother Oscar Taylor of Alabama. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren.

The entire Bingham family would like to express their deepest appreciation for the entire staff at Good Life Senior Living and Memory Care in Lovington and the nurses at Enhabit Hospice. We also want to thank Mrs. Amber, Keaghan, Mrs. Jennifer, Miss. Tracy, and Chaplain Dennis Durfey.
