Samuel Robert Etter, Jr. passed away Saturday July 28, 2018 in Lubbock Texas, he was 80 years old. Born July 25, 1938 to Samuel Robert and Ruby Pauline Etter in Coleman Texas, he grew up in Brownwood Texas where attained his Eagle Scout award before graduating high school in 1956. He then attended Texas Tech University and proudly joined the U.S. Army. In 1964 Sam moved to Hobbs where he married Betty Sue Harris a year later. During his time in Hobbs he worked as a Manager at Gibson's Discount Center, owned Crosby's Camera and eventually retired from American National insurance. Sam was an avid outdoorsman and craftsmen, who enjoyed fishing and hunting. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Sam was preceded in death by his parents, his dear wife, granddaughter Destiny Etter and grandson Johnny LaReau.
He is survived by three daughters Deborah Dutton (Charlie) of Hobbs, Cheri LeReau (Andy) of Roswell, Anita Culver Carr of Hobbs, son Samuel "Trey" Etter (Stephanie) of Hobbs, eight grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
