Thurman Brooks

Thurman Brooks, 82, born May 26, 1936 in Boley, OK passed away on December 12, 2018 in Hobbs, NM. Thurman was a lifelong mechanic, who worked for 30 plus years at Western Auto before retiring. He couldn't stop being a mechanic though, and continued to work on his own. He loved cars, and could always be found tinkering with them, telling jokes, and spending time with his loving wife and children. One of his favorite things to do was travel. He loved going to Ruidoso and Cloudcroft, sometimes to fish but often to attend festivals such as Oktoberfest or cook offs. He will be dearly missed by everyone who knew him.
Thurman is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister. Left to cherish his memory are his wife Helen V. Brooks; 6 daughters: Donna Baker, Rachel Brooks, Sharon Jacobs, Teresa Jackson, Lorna Jackson and Tara Sanders; fifteen grandchildren, forty two great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. He is also survived by brothers: Ben Brooks, Donald Brooks and Bobby Brooks; sisters: Ethel Baty, Betty Brooks and Josephine; and a host of nieces, nephews and other loved ones.
Funeral Service will be held at 3:00pm, Friday, December 21, 2018 at Word of Life Church in Hobbs. Burial will follow at Prairie Haven Memorial Park. Services are under the direction of Griffin Funeral Home.
