Neoma June Thomas Nolan Branson
"Tommie"
She arrived in June and left in June
Tommie June Branson was born June 30, 1931 in Seminole OK to James Henry and Opal G. Thomas. She passed into the arms of angels and her savior Jesus Christ on June 18, 2019 - just two weeks short of her 88th birthday. A visitation will be held beginning 1:00 PM on Friday, June 21st at Griffin Funeral Home and before the funeral service scheduled for 1:00 PM Saturday, June 22nd at the Prairie Haven Memorial Park Chapel. Burial will follow at Prairie Haven Cemetery.
Tommie and her life partner, Cecil R. Branson, MD were married in December 1974 and spent over 30 blissful years together until Dr. Branson's death in 2003. They were always supportive of their children and grandchildren and traveled extensively after Cecil's retirement in 1985. Tommie was an expert bridge player and spent many wonderful hours playing with her friends and the other "big" girls. Tommie and Cecil were regular and active members of First United Methodist Church of Hobbs, NM. She had and loved many different cats - often caring for and adopting ones that had no home. The ashes of Cotton and Miss Kitty will be buried with her to spend eternity together. Tommie and Cecil enjoyed many wonderful years boating and water skiing with their family and friends from Hobbs. Her easy smile and infectious laugh were always her greatest traits and will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her and spending time with her.
Tommie was preceded in death by: her husband, Cecil R. Branson, MD; her parents, James and Opal; her sister and husband, Helen and Pete Orr; her youngest son, Steve Nolan; and the father of her children, Darrell Nolan. Tommie is survived by: her oldest son, James Daniel Nolan and wife, Sally; step-children Lynette Edwards (Bill Sonnamaker), Robert U. Branson, and Scott Branson (Tina Coverman); her grandchildren: Jennifer (Matt) Wright, Blake (Stephanie) Branson, Tyler (Laura) Branson, Derek Edwards and Katelyn Edwards. She is also survived by eight great-grandchildren.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Hobbs Health Care for the wonderful care she received over the last years of her life. Instead of flowers, please direct any gift in her name to the First United Methodist Church.
