Tommie Lee Hamilton, a longtime resident of Hobbs, New Mexico was born on January 23, 1922 in Calvert, Texas to Tom Hamilton and Lu Berta Ware. He was raised in Burkburnett, Texas thirteen miles from Wichita Falls, Texas. He moved to Hobbs in 1945 after three years of service in the U.S. Army.
Tommie Lee departed this life peacefully on Monday, January 28, 2013. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Zelma, two daughters, Betty and Nicole and a son, Larry. He leaves behind two sons, Charles Pamela and Raymond, both of Albuquerque, New Mexico, a brother, also named Raymond of Houston, Texas and a sister, Marie of Oakland, CA, as well as numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Tommie was an avid fisherman and hunter two hobbies that he enjoyed for many years until his health failed. He was also a Scoutmaster for several years, mentoring young boys about leadership and the principles of what it meant to be a Boy Scout. He was a longtime employee of MeTex Supply Company. Tommie Lee will be sorely missed by his many friends in the Hobbs community.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM, Saturday, February 2, 2013 at Ebenezer Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Prairie Haven Memorial Park. Services are under the direction of Griffin Funeral Home.
