Tony Gassaway

Tony Gassaway, 79, formerly of Hobbs, passed away Thursday, October 27, 2016 in Hempstead, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at First Baptist Church with Pastor Jimmy Low, officiating. Interment will follow in Prairie Haven Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 pm, Monday, October 31st at Griffin Funeral Home.

Tony was born on February 17, 1937 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to T.E. and Ruby Gassaway. He was a longtime resident of Hobbs. Tony graduated from Hobbs High School in 1956. He married Sandra Stone on November 5, 1960 in Hobbs and they celebrated 55 years of wonderful marriage. Tony was an entrepreneur and owned many businesses over the years, including Tony's Minit Mart in Hobbs.

Tony was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife, Sandra; sons, Coy, Carey and Greg Gassaway and daughters, Toni Denzer and Mindy Ricketts, along with several grandchildren.
