Tracy Martinez

Tracy Allen Martinez of Hobbs, passed away on January 15, 2023 at the age of 50. He was born September 8, 1972 in Hobbs to Jesse and Rosa Martinez, one of three children. A memorial in his honor will be held on January 19, 2023 at Christian Center in Hobbs at 10am. Online condolences may be made at www.griffinfuneralhomehobbs.com.

Tracy was a man that never gave less then his best. He lived his life passionately, in his home and his work. He loved to explore new careers, working as a butcher for game meats, running a fish store, and most recently, owning and operating J R Goodies.

Tracy loved spending countless time at the Pecos River he would be there from dusk till dawn. He would be so tan from where he was just out in the sun.  Tracy loved to drink cokes, he had to have a coke. He would be coaching and not feeling well his wife would say, Tracy you need to drink water. Tracy would always respond; No get me a coke please! The softball girls already knew to watch out for coach coke. Whether it was a coke can or his personal cup. He always wanted his wife to get whatever she wanted wherever they were he always would say money is paper and it burns just like paper. He spoiled her! Every Wednesday was date night! She also received flowers from him every other week. He made the most beautiful arrangements! He always wanted the best for his family! If we wanted it, we had it sooner or later he was getting it or had it. He was the best hubby ever! The illnesses took over, but he still had his days of being Tracy!

Tracy was a man of many talents, hunting, fishing, but above all he was a teacher. He taught his family how to live a life they could be proud of, the many skills he gained in his life he shared with anyone who would sit still to learn. He coached the girls’ softball team Get um Girls for many years, teaching them to play, to win, and lose with sportsmanship. Tracy’s fighting spirit was evident in his every action, and he passed those qualities on to his children whom he loved so much.

Preceding him in passing is his father, Jesse Martinez.

Left to always remember him are his loving wife Kia, children Reid, Amaya and Maddie, grandchildren Mateo and Elaena, mother Rosa and siblings Roy and Peggy.
