Wayland Rogers

Wayland Rogers, 88, of Hobbs, passed away Friday, Feb. 28, 2014 in Hobbs. Graveside services will be held 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 5, in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Services are through Griffin Funeral Home.

Mr. Rogers was born on Oct. 15, 1925 in Cloudy, Okla., to Leonard and Roney Rogers. Wayland served his country as Seaman First Class in the United States Navy. He was married to Dorothy Schmidt for 29 years until her death in 1977. Wayland married Ethel Copeland in 1985 and celebrated over 27 years of marriage until her death in 2013. He enjoyed gardening and fishing. Wayland was also preceded in death by his parents and eight brothers and sisters.

Survivors include his daughters, Rita Smith and Linda Johnson sons, Gary Rogers and John David Rogers one sister, one brother 18 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.
