Wilbert Sims

Wilbert Sims, of Hobbs New Mexico, was greeted by angels at the age of 80 on February 21, 2022.

He Was born May 24th,1941 in Robeline, Louisiana to Benjamin Sims and Sariah Jordan.

Wilbert grew up in the Natchitoches area of Louisiana with his 11 brothers & sisters on the family farm. While attending school he met the love of his life Bertha Lonadier. They were married in 1959, and a few years later, they moved to Hobbs where they raised two sons. Wilbert worked in the Oil Field for Nolan Brunson for 45 years to take care of his family. He loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Some of his favorite things were enjoyed was fishing, hunting, and trips back home to Louisiana.

Preceding him in death was his wife Bertha, his parents, and his siblings: Louvina Lester, Maudie Sims, Lucian Sims, Otheo Sims, Orean Gass, Edna Sims,Myrtis Gilcrease, Cora Gass, Robert Sims, and Audrey Rijah.

Wilbert is survived by his sons David (Dawn) and Michael (Denise), grandchildren Gregory, Kaiden, and Jake, and great-grandchildren Dusty, Krysta, and Danika. His is survived by numerous nephews, nieces,and other extended family and friends.

Visitation will be held at Griffin Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 1st, from 10am–7pm and will resume, March 2nd at 10am-12:30pm.

Graveside services will be held at Prairie Haven Memorial Park on Wednesday March 2nd  at 1pm.
